I'm a Celebrity Get me out of Here-the celebs arrive in camp

 The celebs were dropped into the jungle last night in the first of the new series of I’m, a Celebrity Get me out of Here.

They were split into two teams of five. One team-Mark Wright, Anthony Cotton, Crissy Rock, Fatima Whitbread and Lorraine Chase, were tasked with doing a parachute jump into camp, while the other team-Stephanie Powers, Dougie Ponyter, Willie Carson, Jessica-Jane Clement, later joined by Freddie Starr, canoed their way into the jungle.

Crissy Rock, who took out her false teeth to do the jump changed her mind at the last minute after seeing her fellow celebs do the tandem skydive-including sixty-year-old Lorraine Chase and soap star Anthony Cotton, who is terrified of flying.

On arrival, the teams were joined by Freddie Starr, before set a trial to decide on who would get the luxury camp.

For the task, the teams, on either side of each other, were hoisted above the ground on ‘weighing scales.’ Each celeb had in front of them a box with nasties and stars. The team to remove the stars with their mouths one at a time in consecutive order the quickest would win.

Before Freddie could get his second star, the whole of the yellow team had retrieved their stars.

The winning team (Mark Wright, Fatima Whitbread, Lorraine Chase, Anthony Cotton, Crissy Rock) were sent to luxury camp Croc Creek where they enjoyed a ice meal. The loosing team went to basic Snake Rock to eat rice and beans after being dunked into a vat of fish guts.

At Snake Rock, Freddie admitted how guilty he felt about loosing the task to his disgruntled team mates, who said to forget about it and get on with things.

On tonight’s episode Mark Wright of Croc Creek will compete against Freddie Starr, Snake Rock, in Greasy Spoon, an eating trial. Will Freddie turn it around and beat competitive Mr Wright?

The Only Way is Essex cast go ghost-hunting

The stars of The Only Way is Essex are to take on their biggest challenge yet as presenter Yvette Fielding invites them to go ghost-hunting with her, could be a laugh?!

Yvette leads Joey Essex, Harry Derbridge, Amy Childs, Mark Wright, James 'Arg' Argent and Sam Faiers on a spooky tour of Coalhouse Fort, which is said to be the most haunted of all forts. The Victorian landmark overlooks the Thames in East Tilbury, near Thurrock in Essex.

The team start off keen and confident, but this quickly turns to fear and panic as strange things begin to happen, 'Shut up.'

Soap spoiler!!! Coronation Street 13-19 August

Carla is relieved when Frank tells her that he is not annoyed about Peter, just happy that she has been honest with him, then he stuns her with a proposal. When Peter hears Carla’s response to the proposal he is shocked. His wife, Leanne though is quick to have a dig and the two women nearly come to blows.

Elsewhere, Becky is feeling low when she gets a letter about her divorce on the second anniversary of her wedding.

Chris continues to try and keep news of his illness quiet, however Karl blabs to Jason and Owen. And Lloyd is left in a difficult position when he invites Chris to move in with him and Cheryl. Three is definitely a crowd.

Also, Fiz is torn apart when Hayley and Roy bring Hope to visit her in jail and considers having Hope with her in prison. Fiz later discovers her cellmate unconscious and it gradually dawns on her that Ruth is using her baby to smuggle in drugs.

Meanwhile, Sylvia is causing havoc at Roy’s Rolls with her cost-cutting, but it looks as though she has met her match in Norris.

Further down the street, Tommy pulls out all the stops in an effort to impress Tina by cooking her dinner, but it looks like it is all for nothing when Dr Carter chats up her up in the pub and suggests a night out on the town.

When Chris causes an accident at work that leaves Jason injured, Owen gives him a final warning. Chris responds by telling Owen to stick his job, and as his erratic behaviour continues, Maria tells him they're finished.

Elsewhere, David and Kylie spend their first day in charge of the salon creating havoc. When Gail heads round to Audrey's to tell her all about it she walks in to see her mother helping Marcia get all glammed up. Is Marc's secret finally out? Things get worse for Gail as her first shift at the bistro ends in disaster.

Determined to get her business back on the rails, Audrey packs David off on a residential business course - and Gail is horrified to find out that she will be left in the house with Kylie for two weeks.
Also on the street, Stella's attempts to build bridges with Leanne seem to be scuppered by Eva. Sophie if put out by the way Sian seems to enjoy Amber's company and Carla has some explaining to do when Frank quizzes her about her feelings for Peter.

Meanwhile, Julie, worried that her first date with Brian has not gone well, she fortifies herself with a few drinks before their second outing, but as she loses her inhibitions over dinner it looks as though she is about to blow it again.

A suspicious phone call leads Gail to discover that Kylie is planning to put Max up for adoption which leaves David furious.

Meanwhile, when a water main bursts in Marc's house, Audrey invites him to move in with her. She also considers handing over control of the salon to David and Kylie so she can spend more time with Marc.

Nick offers Becky a job waitressing at the bistro, while Steve desperately tries to track down Tracy. But Becky then causes a stir when she arrives at Gail's breakfast table having spent the night with Nick, and Steve decides that two can play at that game.

Also on the street, Dev imposes a curfew on Amber after she spends the night our clubbing with Tommy, but she has some shocking news for her father. So Dev decides to move Amber into the flat above the shop, evicting Tina, who moves in with Tyrone and Tommy, but he gets caught out when he agrees to have dinner with Amber and Tina.

 Chris is left feeling awkward by Cheryl and Maria's increasing closeness. Maria thinks Chris is behaving strangely but can't quite put her finger on what is bothering him.

Bad travelling Brits on Holiday Hijack

I’ve never been able to understand Brits that go aboard and fail to venture outside their hotel. But, that’s exactly what the group on last night’s holiday hijack do. The three girls and a boy in their twenties are spoilt, work-shy and used to being waited on hand and foot in five star plus hotels.

Thank God then that they got their comeuppance and were made to swap their luxurious hotel for a West African family’s mud hut with no bathroom, only a toilet with no loo paper.

The group’s moaning continued through the five days of their stay i9n the village with single mum Bella and her family, as they were put to work. The best moment came when 20-year-old Daniel had a hissy fit and refused to stand in the sea or carry a bucket of fish on his head for fear of getting his shoes or hair dirty. However, he eventually gave in and agreed to wear someone else’s shoes, what a sport?!

Despite leading an awful example and giving us Brits a bad name, the group did turn it around, but not before dashing to a cash point on a local night out with Bella, drinking alcohol in front of the Muslim family and turning their noses up at the families accommodation, luxury in the small village within Gambia.

Of course, in true reality documentary style, the group began to embrace Bella’s culture and way of living, as the message hit home about the value of money. Clean freak Daniel even agreed to par-take in rolling in the mud on a trip to the Gambia ‘spa’ and jump in the river to clean himself. Shame really as I enjoyed watching the group squirm.

Although I can’t help but wonder whether their pledge to step outside their hotel while on holiday and discover the country is too far fetched? Will their memories of selling jewellery, de-scaling fish and hand-washing hotel laundry become a blur within their life of luxury?

Gary is reaching the end of his tether and nastily locks Izzy's wheelchair, which he has picked up from the repair shop, in his van and doesn't tell her he has it. Then he finds Anna in his flat and discovers that she has told Izzy about his attack on Sean. Doctor Carter recommends that Gary get physchological help, but will he take it?



Meanwhile, Tracy overhears the Croppers talking about a card they have received from Becky and is quick to interrogate Slyvia for more information, before revelling in telling Steve Becky has met a new man on her holiday. The return of  a sun-kissed Becky sends Steve straight into the arms of Tracy, but how will he react when he finds out there is no new man? Also in the Barlow household, Ken's friends rally round in an attempt to shake him out of his dark mood in the wake of the James debacle.

Elsewhere, Julie thinks she may have blown it with Brian when she turns up at the reading group with Dylan, and Mark asks Audrey to accompany him to a LGBT event at which he is to speak as Marcia.

Coronation Street soap spoiler (16-22 July)

 Peter seeks comfort and reassurance from his AA buddy Carla after feeling confused about his and Leanne's baby. Peter's sister Tracy declares she doesn't want James around anymore, but after he agrees to leave, Ken discovers he has taken out a loan against their house. He's in even more trouble when Kevin reveals that the police have arrested Rob and Janet and later that James was in on the scam all along.

 Meanwhile, Sean is still feeling left out with how close Marcus and his son Dylan have become. Owen has some important news for Anna, he's her new landlord.

There's a new employee at Underworld, Gary, who gets the job to be nearer to Izzy, but his action only results in her feeling suffocated. 

Audrey may be forced to tell Gail her new man Marc's secrets as her birthday gets close. But to her surprise, Marc offers to give up being Marcia for her.

Peter Andre is Here to Help

 

Peter Andre returns to ITV on 14 July with a brand series in which he will be helping people all over the county, whether they need a hand putting on an unusual wedding or party, organising a makeover or even sharing a secret.
In the first episode of the series, Pete is in Solihull where he goes to the aid of Spanish teacher and single mum Corinne. She is struggling to juggle establishing a routine for her unruly two-year-old son Josh, working long hours and having a social life. Peter and his team have just four days to make a difference and get Josh's behaviour under control. Mr Andre uses his celeb status to enlist the help of local people, striking deals to get what he needs to transform Corinne's life and getting stuck in himself to teach classes at Corinne's school, working at the local shops and even mucking out elephants at the zoo.
He also meets up with another local single mum, Linzie, with a view to helping her out and speaking a friendship between her and Corinne.

Coming soon to ITV-Sextuplets:the little lambs

On Tuesday 5 July (9pm) ITV will air a moving documentary that tells the story of the first sextuplets to be born in Britain for 17 years.

Layla, Ellen, Matthew, Rose, Pippa and Eric were born 14 weeks early in May 2010 at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Their parents, Vicky and Andy Lamb, talk about how it was the most dramatic time of their lives, what with Vicky's difficult pregnancy and the sextuplets' birth. The couple were given the option to reduce the number of babies, but they decided to let nature take its course. Sadly Matthew died, and Vicky and Andy barely had time to grieve for their son because their other five babies were so ill.

Then, after seven weeks, Pippa contracted a severe infection and was too weak to fight it. But little by little both mum and babies grew stronger.

The film follows the couple as Layla is reunited with her brother and sisters in the special care unit, and the events during the emotional days when the babies finally leave hospital and come home. Vicky and Andy learn how to cope with the demands of four newborns and prepare for their first Christmas with their little miracles.

New ITV series-Babies Behind Bars

Next Monday at 9pm sees the first of two moving, shocking and insightful films which follow the dramatic and emotional stories of a group of pregnant inmates at Indiana Women's Prison in the USA. With a 400 per cent increase in the number of women in America being prisoned in the last 30 years, prison births are becoming an increasingly regular occurrence, with thousands of babies born every year in the country's prisons.
Of course competition for places on the baby wing is fierce, which 20-year-old Donna understands, however her history of violence may mean that she misses out on a place for her baby. Serial offender Heather is also in the same situation, so she prepares for the agonising task of giving up her baby.

Episode 2 of ITV's Baby Hospital

Tomorrow's programme follows the stories of three single mums and how they struggle to cope alone with a sick baby.

One mum contracted swine flu when she was 20 weeks pregnant and her baby son was was born at 27 weeks old. She fights for her life, while her son unfortunately does not survive.

Dr Chris Dewhurst of the Baby Hospital says:, ';We have single mums with no dad, mum with a new partner, mum being supported by grandparents, so we’re used to all different types of families here.

'It’s extremely difficult having a new baby, but if you are on your own and you have a baby who is sick, or who’s been sick, then I think that must be very, very difficult.'

Baby Hospital is aired every Tuesday at 9pm on ITV.

A new documentary series that follows the stories of the babies being cared for on the Neonatal unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital is to air on ITV.

The three part series-Baby Hospital, focuses on what happens when birth doesn’t go as planned and baby ends up in intensive care, teetering between life and death. The behind the scenes doc will show viewers what happens when a baby is born as early as sixteen weeks, and provide an insight into the intensely demanding work of the doctors and nurses tasked with doing all they can to save their tiny patients’ lives.

Programme one follows the lives of three families whose babies’ births have involved complications , being starved of oxygen during the birth process. This leaves the families with a heart wrenching wait to learn whether their baby has suffered from long-term brain damage.

Mum Amy, 18, knows from the outset that her baby son Charlie may not pull through, however she decides to make the most of every day she has with her child. Sadly Charlie lives for just 12 days having suffered a lack of oxygen, which caused un-repairable damage to his kidneys.

Parents Laura and Phil Pover’s baby daughter Olivia was stillborn two years ago, and they desperately need their new baby son Riley to be well. Riley thankfully survives, but it is at a price, as his family discovers he has suffered some brain damage.

Then there is baby William, who has to be brought back to life at birth. Doctors fear he has severe brain damage and try a pioneering new treatment on him where his body is cooled for three days after birth. Weeks after, William surprises everyone and his MRI brain scan comes back clear.

Charlotte's parents learn that John, who they believe is called Collin Fiswick, is living on Coronation Street, the scene of their daughter's death. Meanwhile, Steve and Tracy become more worried about Amy's health. Rosie comes onto Tommy and orders hum upstairs and tells him to get his kit off, but what does she have planned? And Eileen organises a blind date for Sean, who is surprised by who the mystery man is.
Elsewhere, Faye tells Owen that Katy is pregnant and he goes looking for Chesney, who has disappeared. Katy thinks he's left her, but John is up to his old tricks again, and has kidnapped him.
At the garage, Tyrone and Kevin continue to not get along. When Kevin installs a new hydraulic lift Tyrone cannot resist tinkering with it, but his actions result in disaster. As Kevin is rushed to hospital, Sally comes to his aid, leaving Jeff sitting in the bistro alone with a ring box for company.
During the week's episodes, David also saves Max from running into the road and tells Becky and Steve it is clear they are incapable of looking after him. And Fiz receives some more bad news, after learning that the real Colin Fiswick is back in the country and they need to leave the street immediately.

New ITV show-Poms in Paradise

Next Wednesday sees the launch of new ITV show Poms in Paradise, which follows the lives of Britons who have chosen to up sticks and settle in Australia's Gold Coast, lucky things. The documentary style programme will reveal what the expats' lives are like after they make the radical move and if their new home really is paradise.
One man who has emigrated to Oz is 31-year-old Welshman Stuart Snell (pictured), who is a champion in Surf Life Saving, a fusion of the Iron Man challenges and lifeguarding skills. The show follows him as he prepares for this year's first event, a gruelling 500 metre swim through the surf. The programme also meets Marcus and Lorraine and their daughter Sky, who arrived Down Under a year ago and say they are better off than in the UK, despite doing the same jobs.But Lorraine is struggling with being so far away from her family. Then there is Frank, who moved to Australia from Ireland after a bad break-up, and now works in the tropical rainforest near the Gold Coast, nice work if you can get it.

Poms in Paradise is on at 7.30pm on Wednesday 11 May.

Michelle Collins and John Michie to join Coronation Street

Actors Michelle Collins, who played Cindy in Eastenders, and John Michie, who found fame in TV series Taggart, are to join the cast of Corrie as the new Rovers landlady Stella and her husband Karl. The pair will step onto the cobbles next month to begin recording scenes that will air in June.

Stella is brought into the Rovers by owner Steve McDonald after a series of bust-ups with his wife Becky leave the pub's future in jeopardy. Their marriage, of course, hasn't been the smoothest, what with Becky's colourful past, buying her nephew, attempting to flee the country with two children, and then Steve's dad robbing a bank at gunpoint. It's enough to make anyone want to give up on life.

Steve hopes that employing Stella as his new bar manager he will get an easy life, but gets more than he bargains for when she moves in her husband Karl and her gorgeous but feisty daughter Eva, who's yet to be cast. However, the locals love Stella's warm and no nonsense personality, but is she too good to be true as it is revealed she is hiding a dark secret.

News of Stella's past will have shocking consequences for some of the street's most loved residents, as well as have an effect on Stella and Karl's relationship.

Piers meets Andrew Lloyd Webber

Next Saturday (9 April 9.10pm) sees the return of the Piers meets... programmes on ITV, where the former newspaper editor grills celebs and well known figures in an hour long interview.

Piers talks to the famous composer about his love life, including his affair with Sarah Brightman, living with cancer, why he quit Uni for musicals, his childhood and young adult life, with appearances from his wife, daughter, brother and friends.Lloyd Webber then welcomes Piers to his villa in Majorca where they visit the grocery store to buy dinner, before flying back to the UK where they visit a church and take a trip to the West End.

Sam wins Dancing on Ice

Sam claimed the title of Dancing on Ice winner 2011 last night. The soap star proved his worth after delivering an outstanding performance of his own version of Torville and Dean’s Bolero, along with children’s TV presenter Laura, whose routine was, according to the judges, ‘Slow to get going’, putting her in overall second place.

The pair were chosen by the public vote to skate the honourary Bolero after Chloe was knocked out of the competition, following the celeb skaters’ final showcase, which saw them choose the costumes, lighting and make-up, and an encore performance of their favourite routine.

Top skater Sam wowed  the judges, even with the injury he sustained in training, with his choreography to ‘Footloose’, which Jason said was ‘fiesty and very clever’, and Emma called ‘Ammmazzzing’, earning him a score of 29.5/30.

Laura skated to Madonna’s ‘Express yourself’, which saw her and two other female professional skaters don secretary outfits, while the men wore very little. But her attempt to recreate Madonna’s music video was unsuccessful. Comments from the judges included, ‘You don’t have the fire I expected’- Robin and ‘You were missing the sexy Madonna feel’- Emma. Laura’s score 26/30.

Chloe took on the part of Baby for her Dirty Dancing performance to ‘The Time of my Life’. However much like Laura, she failed to pull it off, mainly because of her tabletop lift, which Jason branded a ‘collapsible cardboard table, earning her a score of 25.5/30.

For their encores, Sam re-perfomed his Riverdance on ice, Laura her routine to ‘I’m so excited’, and Chloe ‘Kiss Kiss’. But despite Jason’s approval for Chloe’s routine, even taking his hat off to her and revealing the results of his recent hair transplant, the TV presenter come model, failed to win the support of the public to dance the bolero,placing her in third place.

Vernon Kay and Stacey Solomon host new show

A new entertainment series that sees celebrities sing modern hits and endure extraordinary challenges is to air on ITV.

Sing If You Can will be hosted by Vernon Kay and Queen of the jungle- Stacey Solomon, who will put stars to the test while they attempt to please the audience with renditions of classic songs and try not to get distracted by the extreme and hilarious circumstances that await them.

Can the celebrities hold their nerves whilst delivering a song from a specially designed erupting volcano, or singing a solo on a wire above the stage that randomly drops throughout the performance? Or even whilst having their chest waxed?

Each episode will feature a celebrity judging panel, but it will be the studio audience's decision as to what team goes through to the end game, with one celeb from the losing team plunged into a giant water tank.

In the end game, the winning team can earn money for the show's nominated charity- Teenage Cancer Trust. But what with the final song having to be performed on a giant turntable that spins and the longer the time they spend on it the more money, it's not going to be easy.

Stars that will appear on the show include Brigitte Nielsen, Jedward, Gemma Merna from Hollyoaks, Brendan Cole, Jodie Prenger, Tricia Penrose, Craig Doyle and Darren Gough.

Paul O'Grady returns for second series of chat show

Cheers all round, as ITV has announced Paul O'Grady will be returning for a second series of his live primetime chat show.

As always, Paul will be chatting to A list celebrities as well as English stars, whilst throwing himself into a few scary stunts.

Paul O’Grady says of the new series, 'I'm really looking forward to being back behind my desk!! We've got some fabulous guests lined up and I'll be having a good gossip and getting up to my usual antics!'
